We attended and exhibited at the recent Heat Source event at BE-ST, Delivering Heat Networks in Scotland: Scalable and Regional Models for a Just Energy Transition.
Dr Roddy Yarr, Director of Sustainability at University of Glasgow, reiterated the important role data will play in encouraging investment in clean energy, followed by some real-life case studies from Andrew Cripps at Vital Energi and Paul Steen at Vattenfall, who outlined the importance of delivery models, technical design, funding approach and stakeholder co-ordination for a major district heat network.
Dr Oisin de Praill from Reheat and Paul Gilbert from SOSE shared their experiences working on community scale heat networks in the Borders and the North Highlands, outlining the challenges and solutions found through community engagement. We were delighted to get a physical copy of the East Lothian Heat Feasibility Study Report, and find out all the good work that is happening in this space.
The Centre for Net Zero High Density Buildings can offer support to existing and up and coming projects that are delivering clean energy through heat sources, with academic expertise in data and modelling, district heating and cooling, and heating and energy storage systems.
