TWG II key research areas
This program of projects will design, pilot and assess new heating and energy storage technologies, both in terms of technical efficiency and socio-technical appropriateness. TWG II will pilot novel heat/energy storage systems by (TeamEco).
Prof Des Gibson
Academic Lead

Des is the academic lead of TWGII – Heating-Cooling and Energy Storage within Buildings. He formed the Institute of Thin Films, Sensors and Imaging at the University of the West of Scotland (UWS) in 2014, and has over thirty years track record in industry, academic based research and development and successful physics-based product commercialisation.
Dr Ashwini Konanahalli
Academic Lead

Dr. Ashwini Konanahalli is a Reader (Associate Professor) in Construction Management at the University of the West of Scotland, UK. Before joining UWS, she was a Lecturer at Queen’s University Belfast, where she also earned her MSc and PhD in Construction Project Management.
Dr Sam Ahmadzadeh
Postdoctoral Research Associate

Dr Sam Ahmadzadeh is a Postdoctoral Researcher at CeNZ-HighDB, contributing to research and development of sustainable solutions for urban environments. His work includes retrofitting strategies, optimising heat networks, and advancing Net-Zero building design while addressing occupant needs and promoting sustainable construction.
